MOOC: Conflict Resolution for College Students
Conflict Management for College Students provides a fun and convenient opportunity for individuals to develop valuable communication and dispute resolution skills. The course is free and comprised of five interactive modules that feature customized video presentations, interactive activities, quizzes, and recommended readings. The scenarios and examples provided specifically relate to common interpersonal challenges students may encounter, such as issues with roommates, team members, professors, classmates, and friends. Gil Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship
Gilbert J. Gutierrez was the Ombudsman at Colorado State University from 1990 to August 1993 where he worked tirelessly to assist students, faculty, and staff to resolve conflict in a non-threatening and supportive manner.
The Gil Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship is awarded each academic year. Applications open December 1st, 2019 with a deadline of March 1st, 2020.
Eligible applicants meet the following criteria:
1) Full-time undergraduate student at Colorado State University.
2) Financial need as established by the Office of Financial Aid of CSU.
3) Maintain overall 2.5 GPA.
4) First generations students meeting the above criteria will be given preference.
Online Mediation Certificate Program
CSU's School of Social Work offers a 9-credit online Mediation Certificate Program to help you develop conflict resolution skills that are applicable to a wide variety of professional and personal situations. It can add to your credibility as a professional mediator, if that is your end goal, but it can also give you skills to better handle everyday situations accompanied by tension, stress, and confrontation.
