Student Conduct FAQs

The Student Resolution Center strives to make navigating the conduct process as easy as possible, but we understand that you still may have questions. We’ve gathered some of our most frequently asked questions here to help, but please don’t hesitate to contact us using the contact information at the bottom of this page if you have a question that is not answered here.

  • Within the next ten (10) business days, you will receive an outcome letter from your Hearing Officer sent to your Ram email address. You will be notified in writing if the outcome is delayed.
  • If found responsible for prohibited conduct as outlined in the Student Conduct Code, the Hearing Officer will determine appropriate sanctions based on the incident’s severity, impact on others, and the student’s or organization’s previous conduct record.
  • Please be mindful of all sanction deadlines in your hearing outcome letter.
  • If you do not complete your educational sanction by the stated deadline, a “hold” is placed on your registration. The “hold” will prevent you from being able to register or withdraw from your classes.
  • If you have questions, once you have received your outcome letter, please email the Student Resolution Center at srcenter@colostate.edu.

If you do not complete an assigned disciplinary sanction by the deadline stated in your outcome letter, a registration hold is placed to remind you to complete it.

A registration hold prevents any changes to your class schedule. You may not add or drop classes while the hold is in effect. It does not change any classes for which you are currently scheduled. It does not prevent you from graduating or receiving your diploma or transcripts. If you leave or graduate from CSU with a registration hold in effect, and choose to re-apply, you must meet with the SRC before your application will be considered.

Each student is unique, and we consider each student’s situation individually, on its own merits. We will not discuss another student’s case with you, since that would violate their privacy.

Although there is no additional charge for many of our sanctions, certain DAY Programs include an administrative fee to defray the costs of intensive staff time, services, and support (fees for similar services available off-campus are considerably higher). Your hearing officer chose that sanction as the most relevant to your situation.

Correspondence from the SRC will look like the below email sample.  The red “Pick Up Your Letter” button links to a form where students use their university student ID to access their letter.
