Gil Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship

Gil Gutierrez served as the University ombudsman at Colorado State University from 1990-1993. He was also involved with Upward Bound and served as advisor to MECHA and as a member of the Colorado State University Minority Faculty/Staff Caucus and the Fort Collins League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

As ombudsman, Gil served as a mediator helping students, faculty, and staff resolve conflicts. Gil had a unique ability to work with anyone, regardless of age, race, culture, or status. He helped people to feel comfortable in sharing their feelings and always listened carefully and responded in a fair manner.

Gil was also an accomplished runner often placing in the top three in the Master’s division of regional running races.  Please click here to learn more about Gil.
